EMDR and Somatic Therapy Can Help
How I Approach Trauma Therapy

I help you learn to feel safe in your body, and give you choices throughout our time together. You are the expert on your experiences. I not only help you manage difficult emotions like, shame, fear and rage, but I also help you increase your feelings of joy, curiosity and playfulness.

Some of the different tools I use include:

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing. It is a well-researched approach to treating trauma, and particularly symptoms of PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder).
EMDR therapy can help you in a few different ways, including:
-
Fewer upsetting flashbacks of the trauma
-
More control over your moods
-
Less fear and tension in your body
-
More positivity and hopefulness
EMDR helps "unstick" trauma that is holding you back from being your best self. To learn more about EMDR, click here.
Somatic Therapy is a way of working with the mind and body together when looking at emotions and past experiences. Somatic psychology believes that unresolved emotional issues can get "stuck" in the tissues of our body. So by using body based interventions like breathwork, movement, tuning into sensations, we can become more aware of buried feelings and memories that may be ready to be processed.
